Below is a chart outlining statistics for the Southern Indiana area from SIRA.org. You can see that September 2011 was a great month when comparing it to a year ago. The ytd median sales price is still down 3.48% though.
The following is from The KCM Blog. It is a very telling article. Interest rates are hovering around the unbelievable 4% mark and there is plenty of inventory to choose from. See some of the other great reasons below.

We believe very strongly that now is the time to buy a home. Some will say we are just saying this to create real estate transactions and commissions. Because of that, today we will quote what those outside the real estate profession are saying to the people who look to them for financial advice.
Here is this week’s market snapshot. I see a lot of positives when looking at it. The average sales price is up slightly while our Months of Inventory is slowly declining. Check it out and let me know what you think below!

Just seeing this makes me think more about unplugging items that aren’t in use!
After hearing the plan to reduce the budget by $2.2 million, the board accepted the plan unanimously, which includes cutting nearly 70 teaching positions and 13 administrative and operational assignments.

You can see the average sales price is down slightly from what is was a year ago, but the number of homes sold is down 13%. This isn’t all that surprising considering the numbers from a year ago also include everyone trying to get in on the tax credit.

We had our home warranty representative come visit our office on Wednesday to talk with us. Thought I’d pass along some very interesting facts that were passed along to us. These facts are specific to a HomeTrust Warranty, but I’m would assume them to be similar with other companies.
